Elephant: March 2006

A couple of months went past before I carved another stick. The holidays and several furniture projects kept me rather busy. This stick was a request from my father. I actually looks better then in the pictures. It is carved out of a maple log and was hard, hard, hard.

Razorback: December 2005

This is the first cane I completed for someone. It was carved for a friends dad in Arkansas. It is also the first stick carved in 2 pieces. The stick itself is walnut, and the razoraback is tupelo. To date this is the stick I am most proud of and of course I do not have it in my possession. I guess that means I need to keep carving.

Gator: November 2005

Here is my take of a gator stick carved into a stick. This was my first attempt at letting the stick decide what picture it contained. It turned out ok. I was pretty happy with the results until I tried to add some teeth as an after thought. Note to self. Sharp teeth hurt hands, small dull teeth look dumb.
